When it rains it pours, after a very long dry spell lots rain is forecast for Thursday. The National Weather Service is calling for showers and thunderstorms throughout the day.
Meteorologist with the National Weather Service Jim Mitchell said the rain expected to fall stilll won’t be enough to provide relief from the recent dry weather.
“It will be a brief reprieve, it will help the grass, it may turn it green for a few days, but the ground is so hard we really need a generalized rainfall over the area. The light to moderate rain that is able to soak in over a three day period. You get any of these heavier down pours a lot of it is just going to run-off, because the ground is so hard it’s not going to soak in,” said Mitchell.
Mitchell said the worst has cleared, only run of the mill heavy rain is expected Thursday and Friday.
There are no watches or warnings posted for Genesee County and the surrounding counties.
