The Batavia City School District has received a bid for the sale of its Administration Building on Washington Avenue.
Reed Eye Associates has bid $500-thousand for the property and they are planning on turning the building into an eye surgery center.
The district was asking for $595-thousand for the building. Batavia City School District Business Administrator Scott Rozanski said Reed Eye has made the district a great offer.
He said if the deal goes through the district would also have use of the maintenance shop on site for five more years.
“Basically the maintenance shop is about 4600 square feet and if we were to lease that out it would cost us about $4 a square foot so almost $18,400 it would cost. So in that sense that 500,000 is really about 592,000 if we were to use it for the full 5 years,” said Rozanski.
Rozanski said the district only received one other bid on the building, but it was too low.
The public must vote on the sale first and that vote will take place on September 17th.
