There is still no relief from the dry conditions blanketing Genesee County.
The U.S. drought monitor still has the County and several of the surrounding ones listed as experiencing moderate drought conditions.
Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Buffalo David Zeff said the area is more than five and a half inches below normal for rainfall this year But, good news could be on the horizon.
“The forecast for the next 24 to 36 hours, essentially into tomorrow, is a little tricky. We’re looking for a higher likelihood of rain the further south you go, so from Rochester, Batavia, and Buffalo south, as you go towards the Pennsylvania border, you could see quite a bit of rain over the next 24 hours.”
Zeff said the chance of rain is still pretty slim and any rainfall we do see this week still wont be enough to give the area the relief it needs.
He said looking forward into the weekend weather conditions are expected to be cool and dry.
