Genesee Community College‘s graduation rates are ranked in the top 100 in the Nation.
The Integrated Postsecondary Education System or IPEDS compiled graduation numbers submitted from 7,500 colleges across the Country with similar enrollment levels and didn’t matter whether they were a two or four year institution.
The data stated that GCC has a 29 percent graduation rate, which is high considering 70-percent of its first year students are in remedial math.
GCC’s Associate Director of Marketing Donna Rae Sutherland said the school ranked in the same spot as Herkimer College.
“They look at age, they look at gender, they look at what courses are being taken, they look at zip codes, transfer rates are also included, all kinds of data is required,” said Sutherland.
Sutherland said the school is very proud to receive the ranking.
“Its an honor to be recognized but it also basically verifying what we have known all along that we are a good place to have a successful start for a career,” Sutherland.
GCC is a two year college with open enrollment.
