As the warm weather blankets all of Western New York people are getting ready to travel for the holiday.
Roadways will be pretty busy as AAA is expecting this to be the busiest July 4th travel week in more than a decade.
Steve pacer is with AAA of Western & Central New York. He said they’re expecting 42.3 Million Americans will travel 50 miles or more this week.
“A lot of people are either already on their way taking a two day off or taking a two day off after the holiday and making it into an extra long weekend. So all these things are sort of coming into play and that’s why the numbers are so high this year,” Pacer said.
Pacer said the drop in gas prices could also be a contributing factor. The average price of gas in Western New York $3.60. He said they are expecting prices to continue to drop.
