 An investigation continues today into a fatal pedestrian accident in the Town of Darien.

20-year-old Casey J. Parnell of Mumford was standing on the shoulder of Sumner Road Saturday night. Deputies say Parnell suddenly entered the roadway and was struck by an on coming minivan.
Parnell was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC where he died of his injuries early yesterday.
The driver of the minivan was not hurt and not charged.

A Batavia man is facing a slew of traffic charges following a weekend accident on Wortendyke Road.
Deputies say 23-year-old Lawrence Boggs failed to stop for a stop sign early yesterday morning and crashed into a 2008 Hummer.
Boggs’ vehicle then went off the highway and overturned.
The driver Hummer, who had suffered minor injuries, helped Boggs out of his vehicle, but then, deputies said, Boggs took off.
The driver of the Hummer gave chase, caught up with Boggs and held for lawmen. Boggs was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Hospital with a head injury. The driver of the Hummer was treated at UMMC and released.
Boggs was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, Speeding, Failure to Stop for a Stop Sign and Unlicensed Operator.

The latest Darien Lake Concert resulted in 62 arrests.
Racal Flats was in town on Saturday night.
59 of the arrests were for underage drinking.

Batavia’s first urgent care center opens today.
It is located at UMMC’s Bank Street center next to the laboratory and medical imaging services.
The Urgent Care Center will be open seven days a week, the co-pays are usually less than going to the Emergency Room and wait times are usually shorter.

Free air conditioners are being made available to low-income New Yorkers with proven medical issues.  Governor Andrew Cuomo says the state has set aside three-million dollars in federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program funds for this effort.  In order to qualify for a free air conditioner people must fall below minimum income guidelines and have at least one household member with a chronic or acute medical condition that is aggravated by extreme heat.
