Get set to get wet!
That’s the new motto at Darien Lake Resort, where park officials this morning unveiled plans for a multi-million dollar expansion of the water park.
It’s called Splash-Town. Splash-Town will feature all the current Darien Lake water attractions. It will also add a large new waterslide called Swirl City, the Lazy Days Lagoon wave pool, and Flotation Station – a slow-moving river designed to relax riders.
Darien Lake will also add to lodging, revamping current hotel rooms and adding several fully-equipped “Brown Bear” camping cabins.
Darien Lake General Manager Christopher Thorpe says the entire attraction will create the equivalent of 19 full-time jobs in Genesee County; Genesee County Chamber of Commerce President Lynn Freeman says all the new attractions should help revitalize our county’s tourist economy after a dismal summer in 2009.
This summer, Darien Lake will sell new tickets designed for admission only to the waterpark. That ticket will cost $29.99. The normal combo ticket for the water-park and theme park will still be offered. The one-day ticket price raises from $35.99 to $39.99.
