On the Eve of the Republican Congressional Primary both Republican Candidates, David Bellavia and Chris Collins were in Batavia doing some last minute campaigning.
Republican Congressional Candidate Chris Collins made a stop at the Polk-a-dot Restaurant Monday afternoon for lunch.
As the former Erie County Executive, Collins said that his resume proves that he’s the more qualified candidate. He said that he is running a positive campaign and his opponent David Bellavia is not.
“He’s insulted every resident in the County of Erie, he’s dividing us just like Barak Obama has with the have’s, the have not’s, the 1’s, the 99’s. We’re running on the issues, he’s running a negative campaign and people don’t like that,” said Collins.
Republican Congressional Candidate and Iraq War Veteran David Bellavia was walking on Naramore Drive Monday when reporters questioned him .
Bellavia said that it’s simple he is the better option for the job and he feels very confident about Tuesday's primary.
“It’s funny, because I’m not campaigning against Erie County, I’m campaigning against him and the handful of individuals at the Erie County GOP machine that embarrassed the Erie County Republican Party and almost ruined the party in Erie County and have done nothing but embarrass us and fail us,” said Bellavia.
The winner of Tuesday's primary will face Democratic Incumbent Kathy Hochul this fall for the seat in the new 27th Congressional District.
