Republican Congressional Candidate David Bellavia was at his Batavia headquarters Wednesday blasting opponent Republican Chris Collins for his stance on a few hot button issues.
With one week remaining until the June 26th republican primary, Bellavia referred to a newsletter Collins sent out during his term as Erie County Executive stating that President Obama’s stimulus package was a good thing.
Bellavia said In recent statements Collins said that a vote for him is a vote against the President and his practices. Bellavia questioned how is that statement was true when Collin's publically praised the presidents stimulus package.
Bellavia said he wanted to remind voters that he is a solid conservative and Collins is not.
“Once again we see that Mr. Collins has trouble with the truth. Collins likes to give excuses as to why he joined Mayor Bloomberg’s anti-gun group, but yet he won’t give us a reason. Mr. Collins talks about his voting record being 100% pro-life yet he wont give us any stance what so ever on how he feels about it personally. These are the questions that the constituents deserve to have answered,” said Bellavia.
Bellavia said voters know where he stands, referring to himself as an unapologetic fiscal and social conservative.
The two republican candidates have yet to debate. Bellavia, Collins and Congresswoman Kathy Hochul are all running for the 27th congressional district.
