Its official the Holy Family School in LeRoy will be closing at the end of the month. In a letter to parents the school said that it failed to increase its enrollment for next year and reach their fundraising goal.School officials were also told that due to the mounting deficits the Diocese of Buffalo was unable to approve next year’s budget.The letter to parents was authored by school Principal Kevin Robertson and Pastor Michael Rock. It said they hope students will continue their Catholic education at St. Josephs School in Batavia in the fall. 


Governor Cuomo has proposed that the state lessen the penalty for those caught with small amounts of marijuana.
The Governor said he would like the penalty for those caught with 25 grams or less of marijuana to be lowered from a Class B misdemeanor to a violation. 
State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer says he disagrees with the Governor’s proposal. 
Ranzenhofer says he feels 25 grams of pot is an amount that shouldn’t be ignored.
Ranzenhofer calls marijuana a “gateway drug” that can lead to more serious drug addictions. 

A Batavia woman will spend a year in jail for violating probation. 
26-year old Michelle Crawford was allegedly driving drunk for a third time.
Crawford was one of the first people in the state to be charged under Leandra's Law for driving drunk while her children were in the car.
A tearful Crawford pleaded with Judge Robert Noonan yesterday to allow her to get the help so she could be with her family. 
Noonan said if Crawford was appearing before him for the first time he would be a lot more sympathetic. 

Elected officials from around the state want Governor Cuomo to extend a four-year moratorium on hydrofracking.  
Opponents of the controversial drilling process say a recent review of hydrofracking by the Department of Environmental Conservation needs to be looked at closer before any decisions are made.  
Some would like to see several additional studies done regarding the potential impact hydrofracking would have on the health of residents, as well as the cumulative environmental impact.
