The 2010-2011 budget for the Batavia City School District calls for no increase in expenditures and only a slight increase in the tax levy.
District Business Manager Scott Rozanski said that the $39.9 million budget, in its present form generates a tax rate increase of 1.23 percent, up 27 cents per $1,000 assessed valuation.
When budget discussions began several weeks ago, school officials were estimating a potential tax rate increase of nearly 10 percent.
Rozanski spoke to WBTA News this morning, and explained the budget, the cuts and the impact: (Run time: 4min)
The budget goes to voters on May 18. Two seats on the Board of education will also be decided in the annual election.
