Voters in school districts across the county will head to the polls tomorrow. In Batavia a $40 Million plan including a 2.5 percent increase will be on the ballot. The increase would cost the average homeowner an additional $50 per year. Voters in Alexander will consider a $16.7 Million spending plan that includes a 1.3% increase. Leroy’s $21 Million dollar budget includes a 1 percent hike. In the OakfieldAlabamaSchool district a $17.4 Million dollar plan is one the table. A 5 percent increase will be under consideration in Pavilion. The budget calls for spending $16.4 Million. In Pembroke a $20 Million budget with a 1.5 percent increase will be voted on.
Officials with the City of Rochester and MonroeCounty are still scratching their heads after learning that Kodak had an active nuclear reactor in a basement at KodakPark and failed to tell local authorities. Kodak revealed that the reactor, which contained three-and-a-half-pounds of weapons-grade uranium, operated in a highly-reinforced bunker from the early 1970s until the nuclear fuel was removed in 2007. The reactor, housed in Building 82, was used to test impurities in chemicals and other materials.
A Batavia Teen has been charged after allegedly attempting to stab a Department of Social Services worker. The 16 year old was charged Attempted Assault in the 2nd degree after the incident on West Main Street Road.
An accident on Rose Road led to charges for a Batavia man. 57 year old Paul Reynolds of Rose Road allegedly rear-ended another vehicle and then left the scene of the accident. He was later found at home and charged with Felony DWI and other charges. He will appear in court on June 4th.
A Wyoming County man was sent to jail after he allegedly sold Ritalin and other pills to an undercover officer. 31 year old Nathan Campbell of Warsaw was charged Criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance, both class D felonies. Bail was set at $10,000.
An inmate at the Wyoming Correctional Facility in Attica faces charges after he was allegedly found to be in the possession of a metal edged weapon. 27 year old Thomas Hyson is currently service a sentence for robbery and will appear in court again at a later date.
