The Town of Batavia is urging property owners with private water wells to have them tested.
This follows the discovery of contaminated wells on Bank Street Road.
The town says that wells can be susceptible to contamination during the spring thaw.
Town of Batavia Engineer Steve Mountain explains the status of the contamination and what property owners should know:
The town is working with the county health department to plot the location of contaminated wells.
To have your well tested, contact the county health department at 344-2580.
For further information or questions, contact Steve Mountain at 343-1729, Ext. 220.
Information is also available at the Town Website.
