Assistant County Manager Frank Ciaccia is retiring after 20 years of service to the County. He announced Tuesday that he will be stepping down May 30th.
Ciaccia has worked a total of 35 years in government, before coming to Genesee County Ciaccia worked in Monore County government for 15 years.
Ciaccia talks about the pinnacle moments of his career.
"One of the highlights for me was being apart of bringing municipal water from the Monroe County water project into Genesee County and the controversial, but good decision to expand the runway at the airport. Both those things resulted in what were seeing now, the development and jobs that are coming into the area," said Ciaccia.
Ciaccia said the CountyManager is currently working to fill his position. He said his advice to who ever does fill the position is to be ready to work long hours.
"My advice is to be involved in a lot of important decisions where there is pressure and scrutiny, working closely with the County legislature and also just be ready to work with the department heads and support them in their activities," said Ciccia.
Ciaccia said he’s excited to pursue some new challenges. This fall he will be teaching a graduate course is public administration at Buffalo State College.
