New childrens bike helmet donations are needed for this years United Way Day of Caring. This year’s theme is Wheels in Motion and it corresponds with National Bicycle Safety Month this month.
The Genesee ARC along with Batavia Lions Club and Adam Miller Toy and Bike are teaming up for the event, where Lions Club Members are going to be fixing up 25 bikes for young people in need.
Genesee ARC’s Director of Development Shelley Falitico talks about how the bikes were collected for the project.
"Genesee ARC has the trash and recycling contract for the City of Batavia and people leave gently used bikes out on the curb for pick up and our recycling crew has been picking up for the past several months and when we saw the condition of the bikes we decided as an agency let's submit this as a day of caring project," said Falitico
New children's helmets can be dropped off here at WBTA all week. WBTA is located off of Main and Center Streets in Batavia.
The Day of Caring is set for Wednesday, May 16th and will start at 8a.m. at Dwyer stadium.
