Footloose is the 1980’s cult classic that brought people to their feet with its catchy music and now Genesee County can get the full "Footloose" experience.
Encore Theatre Arts is opening their 2012 season with the show Friday, May 4th at the Batavia Middle School located on 96 Ross Street.
Show Producer and Music Director Eric Traugott said the show features an all-star cast.
“We have a really neat cast, because we have people that have never been on stage, we have people that have been on stage in numerous shows, so when we were casting we were really excited to have that wide range of actors. We have the strong dancers, the strong singers, we have some community faces that are new to that stage,” said Traugott.
Traugott talks about why they chose this particular musical to kick off their season.
“It’s just a fun summer show to get the summer started off right and it’s just you know a fun show, the music is very popular, the movie was just released this past year. So it’s just a great time to do the show,” said Traugott.
Traugott said the show is fun for the whole family.
“It’s just a great time, the music is non-stop, the energy is high. The story is a story that both kids and adults can wrap their heads around and enjoy,” said Traugott.
The show opens at 7p.m. Friday night. Tickets will be sold at the door up to an hour before it starts.
