The Batavia Police Department has completed their annual report for 2011. The report shows that law enforcement officials responded to 16,991 calls for service.
They also handled 449 reportable car accidents. Chief Randy Baker said that was a positive change compared to last years accident numbers.
“There was a significant drop in reportable car accidents, which we strive to do every year through our enforcement details is to try and reduce those accidents,” said Baker.
Baker said the detective bureau was also able to get 700 pounds of prescription drugs off the streets.
They participated in two prescription drug drop off programs where people brought in their old prescriptions to be destroyed at the Buffalo DEA.
Cheif Baker is retiring at the end of April.
