A Batavia man is behind bars this morning for allegedly stealing an mp3 player from a 15 year old. 18 year old Malik Ayala of Walnut Street in Batavia has been charged with Robbery, Petit Larceny, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Batavia Police say that Ayala and another suspect forcibly took the mp3 player from the youth who was in a parking lot at Macarthur Park yesterday afternoon. The second robber has been identified and is being sought by Batavia Police.
Shoplifting charges have been lodged against 34 year old Amy Lynn Showler of Pearl Street in Batavia.. Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies say that Showler allegedly stole merchandise from the Batavia K-Mart Store.
A Rochester man was arrested by Sheriff’s Deputies after being stopped on Route 33 in the town of Batavia Yesterday afternoon. Deputies received a call that a vehicle was operating erratically and forcing oncoming vehicles off the shoulder. 38-year-old Wendelyn Ruiz of Menard Drive in Rochester was charged with Driving While Intoxicated with Drugs and with Reckless Driving. Ruiz allegedly was impaired by prescription medication.
37-year-old Kurt Guhman of Route 5 in Stafford was charged with criminal mischief last evening. Guhman is alleged to have taken his wife’s cell phone so she couldn’t call authorities during a domestic dispute. He’s in jail on 500 dollars bail and an Order of Protection has been issued.
"American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi's father is reportedly planning a run for the United States Senate. The Republican Joseph DioGuardi is expected to announce on Tuesday that he will seek the GOP nomination in a bid to unseat New York's junior senator, Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand. DioGuardi is no stranger to New York politics. The 69-year-old served as a congressman in Westchester County during the 1980s and now works as a certified public accountant.
