Local senator Mike Ranzenhofer (R - 61) has begun an online petition to gain support for what’s called the “All Crimes DNA Bill.”

The bill, which passed the Senate in January, would require every criminal convicted of any felony or misdemeanor in New York State, to submit a sample to the state’s criminal DNA databank.

Ranzenhofer first signaled support for the bill by voting for it in January. He later appeared in Genesee County and urged the State Assembly to pass the law as well.

But since the bill was advanced to the Assembly, members still have not acted upon it.

Ranzenhofer is calling on them to do so. There is a petition to the Assembly at Senator Ranzenhofer’s website. You can find it by clicking here.
