A man now living on South Swan Street in Batavia and convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl, has drawn the concern of his neighbors for the safety of their children.
Batavia City Councilwoman Rose Mary Christian says she’s received several calls from neighbors in the area about Charles H. Wroten, who lives at 214 South Swan.
Wroten was convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl in Batavia 10 years ago. He served 18 months in prison.
Christian says Wroten should remain behind bars
Christian owns the house next door. Wroten moved in a month ago, according to police records. Wroten has lived at over a dozen locations in Batavia since his release from state prison. He has also severed a brief time in the Genesee County Jail for non-sex related offenses, according to records.
A meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 16th, at the Police Department. Two BPD detectives will present a public education program on how the police department monitors sex offenders. The meeting will begin at 7pm.
