The proposed City of Batavia budget for the coming year calls for a property tax increase of 4.3 percent and an increase in water rates of 3 percent.
The proposed budget, authored by City Manager Jason Molino, now goes to the City Council for approval.
The council could make changes in the spending plan.
The proposed budget would establish a property tax rate of $10.94 per $1,000 assessed valuation. If your home is assessed at $85,000, it will cost you extra $39.00 a year in property taxes.
The water rate increase for the average customer will amount to another $13.45 a year.
Molino’s proposed budget falls just under the New York State maximum allowable increase.
