We’ll wait 10 days now to hear the fate of accused sex abuser Erik Roth.
The trial against the 42-year-old Elba man wrapped up Friday afternoon in Genesee County Court. Roth is accused of inappropriately touching two young girls, at times even placing earmuffs and blinders on one while abusing the other.
The trial included testimony from the alleged victims, but defense attorney Ben Bonarigo, Senior discredited that testimony. Bonarigo implies that one of the victims was too young to remember any such abuse. He says the other may have been coached by her mother or other adults.
Prosecutor Robert Zickl noted that neither child ever mentioned, in interviews or on the stand, being told to say or not say something. He calls that “the red flag,” assuring him the young alleged victims are telling the truth about the abuse.
Roth himself took the stand today, expressly denying all charges. His trial was non-jury, so only the judge will decide his fate.
The verdict, scheduled for January 17th.
