Quick work by Batavia Police resulted in the arrest of two burglars caught in the act Thursday. City police received a call from an alert citizen that two men were seen entering a residence on Maple Street and were loading items from the home into a vehicle.
The suspect's vehicle was stopped on Oak Street and found to contain property from the home. 41 year old Eric Doleman and 49 year old Frederick Robidoux both of Rochester with no permanet address were both charged with Second Degree Burglary. They're both in jail with no bail set.
A man is dead after a fire tore through the Rock Gardens Court Motel Thursday night. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause. Flames fully engulfed at least on unit when firefighters approached the 17-unit building around 5:15pm. The extent of the burns on the victim has delayed them determining his identity.
Seven New York unions are suing to prevent retired workers from paying more for their health care. They say the constitution prevents Governor Andrew Cuomo's authority to raise reitrees health care contributions. State attorneys say its perfectly legal to apply terms of a new contract. The budget passed last spring required unions to agree to 450-million dollars in savings through wages and benefits or face close to ten-thousand layoffs.
