A Bergen man is facing serious felony charges for allegedly raping a young girl several times over a 10-year period – in a case that dates back 14 years.
45-year-old Stephen Stone is accused of first-degree Rape, first-degree Sodomy, and first-degree Criminal Sex Act. All are felony charges.
Genesee County Sheriff's Chief Investigator Jerome Brewster tells WBTA News that Stone's alleged crimes began in 1997, with forcible sexual contact against a 6-year-old girl. He's accused of continuing the crime in 2004 with forcible sexual intercourse against the same victim, and again in 2008 with further forcible sexual contact.
The victim in the case made a phone call to the Sheriff's Office Wednesday night, and Chief Brewster says investigators worked all through the night before arresting Stone early Thursday morning.
Brewster says more victims have been identified, and additional charges are pending. Stone is awaiting a January 9th court date from his jail cell. Bail has been set at $100,000.
