A Bergen man has been arrested on charges of rape and sodomy involving a young girl over a 10 year period.
The first incident was alleged to have occured back in 1997 when the girl was six years old.
45-year-old Stephen Stone of South Lake Street, Bergen, was arraigned early this morning.
Genesee County Sheriff’s investigators allege Stone had sexual contact with the same girl on several occasions between 1997 and 2008. Stone has been jailed in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
The original news release from the Sheriff's Office indicated that Stone had allegedly sexually assaulted three different girls. Investigators late this morning clarified their statement saying that all of the alleged incidents involved the same girl.
A Batavia man jailed following a case of domestic violence.
25-year-old Travis Schossow of West Main Street is facing charges for allegedly pushing his girlfriend around…tossing a plastic cigarette case bouncing off a wall and hitting a 12-year-old.
Schossow was locked up in lieu of $2,000 bail and ordered to stay away from his girlfriend and her children.
In Wyoming County a multi-million dollar clean energy project is nearing completion.
It is called a “bio-digester” and basically it uses animal waste to produce fertilizer and electricity.
The one bio-digester in the Town of Covington could power 500 homes.
National Grid is part of the project, which has already created a half-dozen jobs.
Another Erie County Holding Center inmate has died five days after attempting suicide while behind bars.
Forty-seven-year-old Lester Foster was found hanging in his cell on Friday.
He was resuscitated but died in Buffalo General Hospital Wednesday morning.
The suicide death comes just days after two people threatened to sue Erie County in connection with another suicide and attempted suicide.
Southwest Airlines is among several carriers asking the U.S. Court of Appeals to toss out a new regulation. The Transportation Department says any advertised price must include all taxes and fees. Airlines have been separating fees that could add 20-percent to a ticket. The new provision becomes effective January 24th. Southwest is the number one airline for passenger traffic at Buffalo Niagara International Airport.
The Buffalo Bills will wrap up their season at New England Sunday with a losing record. The 6 and 9 Bills will not make the playoffs and no one on the team was chosen to go to the pro bowl for the second straight year. It's just the sixth time in franchise history the Bills will not have a representative at the NFL's annual All-Star game.
