Bishop Edward Kmiec of the Diocese of Buffalo has returned to Western New York, fresh off a visit with the pope. The Bishop spent 10 days in Rome at the Vatican, the head of the worldy Catholic Church. Kmiec had audience with the Pope, along with a number of the other northeastern bishops.
According to Kmiec, the meeting with Pope Benedict was very relaxed. While in Rome, Kmiec aslo had a chance to celebrate a service in the Vatican chapel-mere feet from where he was ordained a priest over 50 years ago.
Kmiec called that experience "very special."
It's now looking more and more likely that New York State's wealthiest citizens will be faceing higher taxes. We first told you thursday that Govenor Cuomo was considering a tax hike to balance a 350-million dollar deficit.
Now there is word a special legislative session is in the works apporve the new taxes. Cuomo is apparently negotiatiing with State Senate Republicans yesterday. The Overwhelmingly oppose the tax hikes.
A LeRoy man is undergoing charges after he alleghedly stole jewerly from a family member. 17 year old Daneil Rosicka of LeRoy was arrested and charged with grand larceny.
Rosicka was arrested after he allegedly stole several diamond rings belonging to a family member and damaged property belonging to another.
Rosicka was arraigned in front of the honorable Judge Dusen and turned over to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of 5,000 bail. He is to return to the LeRoy Town Court December 19, 2011 to answer to the charges.
Salvation Army will be extending it's Christmas food and toy application deadline until Friday, December 9, 2011. Indviduals and familes who are experiencing a financial crisis and are not able to provide a traditional Christmas meal and toys for their children are invited to fill out and application to receive assistance.
