A State Police chase that escalated to 90 miles per hour along back roads, ended with an arrest in the Town of Elba last night.

State Police Sergeant Ronald Lobur tells WBTA News the chase began in Orleans County, following a routine traffic stop. The driver took off and headed south. Lobur says the chase took place only on back roads, and wended its way over the county line and into Elba.

"The chase lasted 12 minutes, covering a distance of 17 miles. None of it went through any villages," Sergeant Lobur said.

"The vehicle operator lost control on (Barrville) road (in Elba) and slid off into a grassy area," Lobur said.

The driver, 34-year-old Jason Klotzbach of Albion, was arrested and taken into State Police custody. Albion State Troopers conducted the chase and arrest.
