Some high tech gadgetry is credited with allowing first responders to find a Bethany man critically injured while deer hunting.

44-year-old John Starkweather of Ellicott Street Road, Bethany, was hunting last night in woods off Gilhooly Road in Alexander.
Starkweather was up in a tree about 35 feet off the ground when he fell.
Seriously injured, Startweather was able to use his cell phone to call 9-1-1, but due to his injuries he was unable to tell authorities exactly where he was.
That’s when the 9-1-1 dispatch center used GPS technology to locate Starkweather. He was taken to ECMC by Mercy Flight and is listed in serious condition this morning.
