Business First magazine has consolidated all of its regional rankings for New York's school districts, laying out a clear top-to-bottom rank of all public school districts in the 48 upstate counties. 431 districts are included, and Monroe County's Pittsford School District leads the way in first place.
Locally, the top-to-bottom order of Genesee County district rankings remains the same as the regional report released in June. However, all local districts are now judged on an upstate-wide basis.
Area leader Pembroke Central School District ranked 80th overall in Upstate New York. Genesee County's lowest-ranking district, Batavia City Schools, still performs well by ranking in the top 50% of all upstate districts.
Also notable: the state's five major Upstate cities (Schenectady, Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse and Rochester) represent the five worst-performing school districts, respectively.
Complete area rankings on a state-wide basis are listed below:
80) Pembroke
107) Le Roy
116) Pavilion
128) Attica
143) Byron-Bergen
148) Alexander
162) Oakfield-Alabama
168) Elba
183) Batavia
