The Lowe’s Home Improvement Store in Batavia is closing. It is one of 20 underperforming stores that the company is closing in 15 states.
The news came last night during a mandatory meeting of Lowe’s employees. They were not given a specific closing date. Then, the company announced this morning that the Batavia store will close in a month.
Employees will receive pay and benefits for another 60 to 90 days.
The Batavia Lowe’s opened in October of 2008. The store faced stiff competition from the Home Depot store, directly across the street.
