A High Wind warning is now in effect for Genesee County and most of Western New York.
The warning remains in effect through tomorrow morning.
Dave Zaff is the forecaster on duty today at the National Weather service in Buffalo.
He tells WBTA that high wind warnings are issued when gusts in excess of 58 miles per hour are forecast.
Zaff notes that leaves are still on most trees increasing the potential for damage.
A gas leak on North Street disrupted service for several National Fuel customers in Batavia and had an impact on UMMC
A gas line was broken yesterday by construction crews working on the North Street sewer replacement project.
With a breeze blowing towards UMMC, the hospital was forced to react. UMMC spokeswoman Colleen Flynn said the hospital closed some exterior ventilation, "just to be sure we were not drawing in any fumes."
The all-clear was given within an hour of the break.
From WBTA’s Eye on Government:
The Batavia City School Board will meet Monday night.
The meeting begins at 7:00pm, but the Board routinely enters into a half-hour executive session prior to opening the public portion of the session.
