The Wyoming County Sheriff's Department has nabbed a trio of young people from Batavia, whom they say are responsible for 5 small business burglaries over the past six weeks.
What's more, the Batavia Police Department is reportedly prepared to charge at least some of the arrested for another string of break-ins in the City of Batavia. Those charges are in the near "future," according to the Wyoming County report. Arrested were 18-year-old Trevor Pilc of South Jackson Street; 22-year-old Paul Cipra, Jr. of East Avenue; and 17-year-old Amanda McEwan of McKinley Avenue. Also arrested was 19-year-old Michael Ames of Dale Road in Middlebury, Wyoming County.
Deputies say the group targeted businesses with safe boxes, and either broke into the boxes or removed them from the businesses. Computers, alcoholic beverages, and other items were taken. Total losses in Wyoming County tallied over $25,000.
The circumstances are very similar to the reported Batavia burglaries, where perpetrators have often entered through windows, and broken into or stolen safes.
All were jailed in lieu of unspecified cash bail.
