The State Department of Health has concluded its investigation into c.Diff bacteria at Batavia’s United Memorial Medical Center. According to Health Department spokesman Jeff Hammond, the outbreak at UMMC has been curtailed.
Since reports of a few high-profile cases in May, surveillance revealed only two new cases of c.Diff in August, and none so far this month.
Final investigation reveals 35 reported cases of c.Diff at UMMC between February and August. Of those, 18 cases originated at the hospital.
