Our second installment of "Attica at 40: In Our Own Words" is presented today, just two days before the 40th anniversary of the 5-day Attica Prison Riot begins.

Today's interview is with Jim Lanigan, former Assistant News Director for WBTA. On September 9th, 1971, Jim was alone at WBTA's Main Street station – his head news director and station president, both on vacation. Jim received the tip that Attica's prison was being taken over, and was able to phone and confirm with the prison superintendent, before the line went dead.

Now what would Jim do?
