A piece of Batavia history lies in ruins today.
The old Elks Lodge on East Main Street is being demolished by a team of contractors, under directive from UnitedMemorialMedicalCenter. The hospital which bought the building in December, but officials say the building was too old and too expensive to maintain.
UMMC visualizes a parking lot and green space on the site. For now, it will be grass.
