A fire inside a vacant Bergen home was successfully knocked down this morning.
Volunteer crews responded to the call on Townline Road, between Pocock and Jerico Roads, at about 6:20am this morning.
A "may-day" call was issued at one point during the fight, after a volunteer fireman fell from a rickety flight of stairs into the basement. He was rescued with a ladder and was not injured.
The investigation into the fire continues. There was no electric or gas service at the house.
A missing Pavilion teenager has been found safe, thousands of miles from her home.
State Police have confirmed that 17-year-old Brittany Hackett of York Road, Pavilion, has been located in Arizona.
She had been missing for a week.
Troopers said Brittany is staying with family in Arizona.
An 18-year-old has been arrested for allegedly threatening a young child with a knife.
Matthew Hernandez of State Street in Batavia has been charged by Batavia Police with Menacing and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
A Silver Springs man has been arrested for drunk driving at the front gate of the Federal Detention Center in Batavia.
28-year-old Frank Vitagliano was originally stopped by Detention Center Officers. Sheriff’s deputies then moved in and made the arrest.
Vitagliano has been jailed in lieu of $1,500 bail.
Saying it's frustrating enough paying those airline baggage fees, Senator Chuck Schumer wants to make sure airlines give that money back to passengers when luggage is hours or days late.
Schumer has written a letter to major airlines warning them if they do not reimburse for late luggage, he will introduce a law forcing them to do it.
New regulations set to take effect in August require airlines to reimburse passengers for baggage fees only if they are never returned, but the new rules don't cover bags that arrive late.
