Genesee County and the rest of Western New York are bracing for a bout with winter. Genesee County is under a Winter Storm Watch and High Wind Warning through tomorrow night.
Batavia Police cannot say if weather was a factor in an accident this morning on Ellicott Street. A small SUV driven by 41-year-old Julie Conover of Batavia, struck a utility pole in front the now closed Ponderosa Restaurant. Conover was taken to strong hospital in Rochester. Her condition is unknown.
Ellicott Street has been closed since the accident around 8:30 this morning because of the precarious condition of the pole. It was broken in two places.
Some power outages were also reported earlier today.
An outage prevented the presses from rolling at the Daily news delaying delivery by up to an hour.
National Grid reports most power has now been restored.
