The Batavia City School Board has a decision to make now that next year’s school budget has been defeated by voters.
The budget failed by 60 votes in yesterday balloting.
The board now must decide whether to re-submit the same budget for another vote, or adopt an austerity budget.
An austerity budget still calls for a school tax increase of about 5-percent.

A LeRoy man has been sentenced to 17-years in prison for role in a methamphetamine ring.
48-year-old Donald Vanelli was handed his sentence yesterday in federal court.
Vanelli was arrested in a coordinated raid last July.
The FBI later released wiretap transcriptions that revealed Vanelli was distributing meth to a wide range of customers in Genesee County.
An alleged purse snatching Wal-mart leads to felony charges. Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies say 20-year-old Justin Dunn of Akron and 36-year-old Jennifer Dauer of Bergen have been charged with 9 felony counts of Grand Larceny.
Deputies said the multiple charges stem from the number of credit cards that were inside the purse at the time it was lifted.
Justin has been jailed in lieu of 10-thousand dollars bail,
One week from the special election to replace former Congressman Chris Lee, candidates in the race for the 26th congressional district made an appearance at the Batavia YWCA.
