A 16-year-old Batavia High School student has been charged with seven counts of Aggravated Harassment.
The student is accused of making dozens of X-rated telephone calls to local women, many of them employees of the Batavia City School District.
The unidentified student was arraigned on the charges in Town of Batavia court. Batavia Police say the case against the student will be handled in criminal court and he will be treated as an adult. .
Police said they would not reveal the name of the student because he is eligible for youthful offender status. Such a status would seal the record from the public.
Batavia Police Detective Todd Crossett said that seven women came forward to press charges.
As many as 36 women may have received the calls.
The boyfriend of a Rochester woman whose body was found near a creek in Livingston County a year ago, has been charged with her murder.
58-year-old Craig Francis Stewart has been charged with Second Degree Murder in the death of Deanna Dudek.
The 37-year-old Dudek had been missing since November of 2009. Last May, a mother and son fishing along a creek off of Chautauqua Hollow Road in Nunda, made the grim discovery.
Police said Dudek was a prostitute and had not known Stewart long before they moved in together.
Stewart was taken into custody on Monday night, and following hours of questioning, deputies said he confessed to the murder.
He’s being held in the Livingston County jail without bail.
A large brush fire sent dense smoke into the air in the Rochester suburb of Greece.
Witnesses said the flames and smoke last night could be seen for miles. Firefighters from several departments battled the flames.
The Buffalo Sabres open up their Stanley Cup playoff run tomorrow night as they head to Philadelphia to play the Flyers in Game One of a best-of-seven set at the Wells Fargo Center. The Flyers will also host the Sabres for Game Two on Saturday. The series shifts to Buffalo for Game Three on Monday.
