The Batavia Police Department has announced the retirement of Police Officer Edwin Mileham. Officer Mileham is a 32 year veteran of the police force.
Officer Mileham began his law enforcement career in 1976 with the Choteau Police Department in Montana, after serving in the U.S. Air Force. After returning back to New York, Officer Mileham was hired by the Village of Warsaw Police Department, then transferred to the Batavia Police Department in 1979.
Officer Mileham has received numerous letters of appreciation during his career, as well as several awards. He recreived the Kiwanis Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award in 2001 and 2008.
Mileham served as the police department’s Drug Court Representative for numerous years, and was recently certified to represent Batavia’s Veteran’s Court, which has recently been created. In past years, Officer Mileham served as a K-9 officer and as a member of the Neighborhood Enforcement Team (N.E.T.) for the police department.
Mileham will continue as Fire Chief for the Indian Falls Volunteer Fire Department, as well as District Fire Chief in the Pembroke fire district.
