Author Rachel Simon will speak with a book signing, prior to the Sprout Film Festival, Saturday, March 22, at Genesee Community College, The Best Center, Batavia Campus begining at 1pm.  Rachel Simon is an award winning author and nationally recognized public speaker on issues related to diversity and disability. The 4th annual  Sprout Film Festival will follow at 3pm with short works produced by people with developmental and physical challenges. There will also be an art show. Centennial Arts Festival

 

Applications for exhibitors for the Centennial Arts Festival to be held June 16th in Downtown Batavia, must be received by the Batavia Business Improvement District office by Monday, May 18.  Applications available at the District office, 200 East Main Street, Batavia, by calling, 585-344-0900 or online.
 
 
Medical Transportation Program

The Genesee County Office for the Aging is in critial need of volunteers to take individuals to medical appointments outside of Genesee County. Supplemental liability insurance is provided to all volunteers and mileage reimbursement may be available. Contact Dorian Ely, at the Office for the Aging if you are interested in volunteering. 585-343-1611.

UMMC ASK A Nurse

United Memorial Hospital will offer, "Ask a Nurse" community outreach program the First Tuesday of each month from 9am to 11am, in the Jerome Center Lobby, 16 Bank Street, Batavia; and on the Third Tuesday of each month from 9am to 11am, in the main lobby of the hospital at 127 North Street, Batavia. A registered nurse will be present to answer questions, check blood pressure, review medications, and provide diabetes risk assessments. The program is free and open to the public on a walk in basis.

Volunteer to Deliver Home Meals

The Office for the Aging is in need of volunteer drivers to deliver Home delivered meals in Batavia. You can volunteer daily or as little as once a month. Each delivery takes approximately one to one and half hours. Easy pick up accessibility and assistance with loading at the Genesee ARC Community Center, Woodrow Road, Batavia. United Memorial Medical Center Healthy Living, offers classes on Childbirth, MOMS program, Breast Feeding,  Nutrition counceling, Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support, Diabetes Education Classes, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support .
